MEET CAMILLE

I love growing and inspiring growth in others. I especially enjoy helping people (self obviously included) grow in love, compassion, kindness, courage, and joy. Living a healthy, happy, balanced life in a world where suffering exists can feel anywhere from tricky to impossible, depending on how many challenges life presents us with at any given time. I wholeheartedly believe that the benefits of personal growth work are far-reaching. The more balance and whole brain/body intelligence we cultivate within ourselves, the stronger and healthier our families, societies, and planet will be.

Twenty-two years ago, I chose to do my graduate studies in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy at Naropa University, a Buddhist-inspired school. I knew in my bones the power of paying attention to one's body, mind, and spirit. Woven into the curriculum at Naropa were classes in meditation and somatic awareness. Thanks to advances in neuroscience and psychological research, many of these ancient practices are now evidence-based approaches.

My style emphasizes co-creating a safe and playful environment that supports optimal growth. I integrate mindfulness, compassion practices, creative visualization, expressive arts, somatic awareness, and parts work into sessions. Together we will practice present-focused awareness with an attitude of curiosity and unconditional positive regard to allow insight and guidance to surface.

I have been studying and practicing these techniques for over twenty-five years, and I continue to learn from and return to them. I am a queer woman who has always viewed personal growth work through a social justice lens. I began my professional life at a women's empowerment center in the South Bronx in 1996. I took my first anti-racism training at that time. My commitment to personal and collective growth is life-long and ever-evolving.  In addition to private practice, I have worked in a variety of community-based agencies including county mental health, school-based health centers, and with youth and families in the foster care system.

Some of the values that motivate and inspire me are: to ease suffering, to learn from challenges and mistakes, to increase freedom, joy, connection, and belonging, to unlock our innate intelligence and wisdom, to unleash our power for good, to create a more sane and sustainable society, to heal and restore the health of our planet starting and always returning to ourselves.

I am an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor # C6779 and a certified yoga instructor.
